I originally coined the term “truly tangent” in response to my frustration with recurring mistakes by architects and engineers incorrectly modeling radius to straight transitions in buildings where the straight appeared smooth, but the fundamental geometry was not truly tangent.

 

Since then, truly tangent is my go-to phrase for our wandering thought connections to alternate topics, similar to “going off on a tangent”. These fun connections help us build relationships because it shows we are listening, remember things better, and develop a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of our world.
