Geometry of Tangents

How Can you verify if the features on your drawing are Truly Tangent?

Most CAD programs will 'snap' to create tangential adjoining arcs or connecting straight tangents to an arc, but not always. Here are some rules:

#1  Tangents only intersect a circle at ONE POINT

#2 Tangent -to- Tangent angle will equal degrees of arc

#3 Tangents will be perpendicular (90deg) from Radius

#4 Adjacent Dimension Leader Lines will be aligned (except some AutoCAD arc leader lines are not radial)
